Professional background

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Case Western Reserve University’s Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. I also teach at Case Western, helping train the next generation of nurses.

Clinical experience

I began my nursing career in 2013 as a registered nurse on a general medicine unit in Cleveland. In 2018 I moved into advanced practice as a Family Systems Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, providing outpatient and residential care throughout Akron, Canton and Cleveland. I also served as a counselor and consultant to Fieldstone Counseling, a faith-based, clinically informed counseling center. To strengthen that side of my work I completed a Biblical Counseling Formation Certificate through the Christian Counseling Education Foundation.

How I practice

At Kindred Family Care I specialize in psychiatric assessment, treatment and telemedicine for children, adolescents and their families. I take a conservative, evidence-based approach to prescribing for children and teens, and I aim for the smallest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary.

Where it is appropriate, that includes de-prescribing , the deliberate process of discontinuing or reducing medication that may no longer be helping, or that may be contributing to the emotional or behavioural concerns it was meant to treat. I work closely with families to build a plan that fits the child in front of me rather than a category.

Faith, stated plainly

My care is Biblically informed and openly Christian. That is part of who I am and I would rather you know it before you call than after. It is not a condition of being seen here: whether you seek guidance through a Christian lens or simply a conservative, thoughtful approach to psychiatric care, you are welcome.

Outside the practice

I am a husband and a father of four, and an active member of my local church, where I enjoy serving and taking part in my community. Outside work I run, cycle, swim, hike, read and play music.
